Who knew?

Who knew that Vacation Bible School could be so exhausting? This is the third day and we are ready to eat lunch and then nap as soon as we get home. But, it has been fun and the kids have been learning more about God so it is worth the tiredness.

Few things that have been going on

One of our favorite things to do when we have some extra time- homemade pizza! YUM!

Swimming with second cousins. Carter, Memoo, Kara and Holden.

Going to the drive in to see Cars II. Wasn't too hot and can't believe we didn't have any mosquitos!

Second season

Last Saturday was Carter's last game as a Houston Astro (YMCA). He has played two seasons with the YMCA and next year we will be on a different team. Again, he was blessed with an excellent coach that both taught him about baseball but also had fun too! The team party was held at McDonalds and it was good to have it right after the game.

A rough day

Kara's Tuesday started off on the wrong foot. She refused to go to gymnastics so we ended up leaving (went tonight and it was better, of course after mom had to do the warm up with her which is another story in its own). Then, while waiting for me to come help her in the bathroom she decided to pull the wallpaper off the wall! And after her nap when she was supposedly painting her Buzz Lightyear picture or so I thought she was really using the paint to paint the picnic table!

Today we woke up ready to have some fun. Which we did for awhile...

We rode bikes with our cousins and neighbors, played in the wagon and with other toys, made a chalk neighborhood (with a Sonic). Tonight she ended up going to her gymnastics class and did well. Now, I have to keep pumping her up to do it next week.

Ten on Tuesday

1. How do you pronounce the word aunt? Does your pronunciation rhyme with ‘haunt’ or ‘can’t'?

the pronunciation rhymes with 'can't'

2. Do most of the people in your life know you blog? Or are you partially or totally anonymous?

I guess you would say they know since I listed it in the Christmas card but I guess it is also anonymous since I don't have many comments?? :)

3. When you grocery shop, do you prefer to bag your own groceries or do you like it when the store bags them for you? Paper, plastic, or reusable bags? they can bag it but sometimes I would rather them just toss it in when I forget the reusable bags- too many plastic bags!

4. Do you have a green thumb?this year we planted a garden and I either watered too much or not enough- we will try again next year

5. If you watch the Food Network, which chef/show host is your favorite? Gida has been my favorite recently, but I will watch whoever is on if they are making something good.

6. Do you like to take baths? Do you take them very often? yes, I will take a bath every once in awhile- when I have headaches, sore feet, or just need to catch up on a magazine.

7. What color are the walls in your kitchen? beige and a darker accent beige

8. Do you prefer to dine outdoors or indoors? depends on weather but during the late spring or sometimes even in the summer the kids and I will eat lunch outside and sometimes even dinner

9. Describe your ideal weather.I wouldn't say I have an ideal- I am more warmer than cold but I like the "seasons" (ha ha) that we have.

10. If you could learn any foreign language, which would you choose to learn? I wish I knew more Spanish than I know- taking two years in highschool wasn't enough

Little gymnast

Last Tuesday Kara started a gymnastics class at The Little Gym. She started like the first picture, but by the end of the class she was full of smiles and was telling us all about the kids in her class and the fun things she got to do. On the beam she didn't want help but once she went on the higher one she was reaching for a hand. She is working on donkey kicks and front support. Both will lead to handstands and other bar activities. This coming Tuesday it is Three Cheers for Cheerleading so she is ready for that.

A beach weekend

Last weekend we headed to the beach to kick off the summer. Walter's mom had a condo for the week so we took advantage and went to visit. Uncle Justin came too and we had fun swimming with him and playing on the beach. Of course, both kids had tears at one point. Carter got his feet stuck in the sinking sand and Kara was splashed with salt water! :) Neither were too happy about it but they did cheer up! Needless to say, we spent Monday relaxing and gearing up for the first week of summer vacation.

The end of a great year!

Thinking back to the middle of August when Carter started at Trinity brings some great memories. He has blossomed very much and I am so pleased with what he has learned. I was a little teary when he walked in the last day of school because he has grown so much. We loved the staff at his school and the friends he made were fantastic too! I hope the rest of his education will be just as good as this one year.

First Day with Kara

Last day of PreK ~Carter and Kara

Last day of PreK was a fun party. They played outside and then had McDonalds and ice cream from the ice cream man.
