Corpus Christi

Last week we packed up and headed to the beach. I had planned a few things like seeing a sea turtle realease and surpisingly they were release 139 turtles that Monday morning. So, at 5:30 in the morning we drove to the National Seashore to watch the process of releasing baby turtles into the Gulf.

Then when dad went to some meetings we did some fun things. First stop was the USS Lexington. I didn't think the museum would be beneficially or worth the money for all of us to tour. But, what was nice is that they had displays outside of the museum that you could climb on, and feel like you are on a small "tour". Enough for Carter and Kara. :)

We walked along this erroding getty (I carried Kara the entire time) and got to look out into the bay. On the way back to the Pier we saw a "fancy" shell in the water. So, mom climbed in to find out that it was a home to a hermit crab.

We spent every day on the beach and then swimming in the pool. We had to watch out for jelly fish and did see a few each day, but that is when we ran out of the water and spent some time building sand castles, or turtle coves, collecting many shells, etc.

During the days and in the evenings we would play games, or do crafts that I had brought along. We made sea creature foam hats, coloring magnet fishing sets, and watched many movies!

We drove over to downtown one morning for a little something else to do. Carter saw the surf board museum, we played at a park, sat and watched a pelican searching for food, and sailboat practice.

Kids had a "sand fight" which was fun to watch and hear the laughter.

Tuesday night we were able to attend a minor league baseball game at Whataburger Field and see the Hooks play a San Antonio team. It was fun! One of the Hooks players gave Carter a ball, they also had a playarea for the kids to go to during the game. Here Carter learned to go across the monkey bars!

Sail boat races

We saved the aquarium until the last day. The kids had a blast! The Texas State Aquarium recently opened a splash pad and the kids enjoyed cooling off after a hot afternoon watching the shows and seeing the animals.
