Too fast!

How can it be that Kara is going to be registered for preK? I am a little bit sad. Actually I can't lie I'm very sad. It was just yesterday that carter was 3 1/2 and I was rushing to get him into preK and now it's Kara's turn and a piece of me isn't ready to rush her. Although she is ready to go to school this is a milestone for all of us. :(
I am a planner and I sometimes think that makes time go by quickly. But, I kinda want time to stand still. It won't of course, so I return to my goal of "enjoy and relish each and every day".
So, this weekend we won't be doing much. Just enjoying another weekend.

Playing catch up (again)

New Year's Eve we hung out at home and had a little party. :) Of course, with lots of snacks, drinks, fireworks, and fun! We were glad we could have fireworks. This year the sparklers and poppers were the favorites.

The following weekend we left Friday after work to drive to Dallas and attend the Sam Houston State playoff game. We stayed with family and had loads of fun with them depsite the loss of the game. Kara and Ruby played dress up, barbies, and then Hannah did make up. We did nails and had so much fun. Carter and Nathan played with his video games and that was fun for Carter too. It was not complete unless we headed to the American Girl store so Sunday we stopped there and got Bitty a few new things. We can't wait to visit again!

Happy New Year

We stayed home this year and had fun eating, setting off fireworks, playing the new Wii and just being together. I am hoping we have more days and weekends like last night! Tomorrow it is back to work for me and the kids have one more day. Every year seems to get harder and harder when it is time to go back. I think Carter is warming up to going back. But then again it could be faux. I think Kara is going to have a rough back to school week-she doesn't have a "ba" anymore! (aka-pacifier). It is long over due but hard non the less for her as well as mom. I did not set any resolutions this year but will continue to strive to be the best mom, wife, friend to all. Plus, continue to exercise and eat healthy (and not go to sonic for as many diet comes a week). I think if I work towards small goals each month it maybe better than a goal for the year. So, this month we will get organized!

Christmas 2011

Christmas Eve morning I made reindeer pancakes, which Carter thought was great but Kara didn't want her picture taken. :)

We went to church and then headed over to my moms for our traditional Swedish dinner. Then, we started opening the mound of gifts. Earlier that week Kara had wrapped gifts for her baby, so she helped Bitty open her books. (She was so excitied to open those!).

I made myself a gift from the kids. :) The sign that now hangs in our laundry room reads:
This home runs on love, laughter and lots of sonic drinks. If you know me, then you know that when they built the sonic by our house I became a frequent drinker. So frequent that not only do I know the ladies that work at sonic but my kids know them and the ladies know us. (All by name). So, this sign is PERFECT for me and very true. :)
Kara got new green shoes, which is her favorite color. Carter got a TON of transformer stuff from Grandma and he loves them!

When we got home from Grandma's we threw the magic reindeer food that Elfie had left us and of course put out cookies and carrots for the reindeer too.

Chrsitmas morning I rolled over at 7:15 and couldn't believe that the kids were still snoozing, but Carter soon arose and we got Kara up too. They must have been good kids this year because they had full stockings and many fun things on the hearth. Strawberry Shortcake DVD and clubhouse, changing table for her bitty baby, socks, Captain American mask and flying disk, Cars II DVD, more socks, all of us got pistaschio nuts (Santa knows we all eat those!) and Carter got a bigger bike that he asked for!

Then, we opened more presents and had another yummy lunch. Carter and Kara have been playing with thier new toys for days. Carter has been riding his bike for hours every day, atempting to jump the bike ramp that he got too. Kara has changed all her babies numerous times a day, put them to sleep and has been very busy with all of her new things.

We are starting to put away Christmas stuff and took down the lights this evening. Kara wanted to turn them on as soon as they were taken down. She was my light girl. :) Christmas came too fast and was gone too quick. Now, we are gearing up for a new year. New adventures and new worries, but hopefully new joys too.

Merry Christmas

So much fun the past few days and we are exhausted! But, every time I look around there is more sitting around waiting for me to pick up! The kids got so much stuff. Socks, toys, shoes, baby stuff, transformers, squishes, more baby stuff, more transformers, angry birds, a new bike, a Wii, Wii games, Captain America shield and mask, Strawberry Shortcake stuff, and the list could go on. I sit here tonight and I am so blessed and thankful for all of the family and friends we visited with today and yesterday. We were surrounded by love, laughter and faith.
We now more onto organizing and gearing up for a new year!
(Christmas pictures will follow as I find time to download/upload, etc. )

Snow day in Texas?

Thursday morning we decorated a gingerbread house, played and cleaned up, then had a snowball fight! With magic snow of course. :) Today we woke up and went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks (chipwrecked), which was good. Now, Carter is wishing he could get a pocket knife like Alvin! I can't believe Christmas is a day away. It doesn't seem possible and it seems like I just finished my decorating. (not about to take it down in 3 days!) We have had a great week off and I don't even want to think about going back to school. :(
